Meet the anime girl of your dreams. Rainbow-colored head who just loves fashion and one with a cute and beautiful voice.

Kagami Ochiai is the female protagonist of Chuhou Joutai, and reserved for the second player. In fact, she’s also the “moe anthropomorphism” of the Dream Logos Wiki, a term used to personify inanimate objects such as countries, services, or even machines as a cute young girl. But who is she? I can tell you her backstory and her role in the game.

I created the character way back in December 2014 when I was still in high school. But this was before Chuhou Joutai was even a thing! In fact, she didn’t even wear the outfit you’re seeing above! She was based on my ex-girlfriend from high school. She was also my first girlfriend, but we broke up after she flunked out and now remains an important part of my memory (I think about her every day). Her hairstyle was very challenging to develop, as her hair color was chosen through process of elimination.

After gathering hair colors commonly used on popular anime characters, comparing those colors on TVs that were available in the 1980s, and by placing her on various backgrounds to see what worked and what didn’t, she told me to go multicolor on it. This led to her top and bangs being red, her sidelocks being lime green, and the back being pink (ah, my God, why did you make me do this?).

Driller, on the other hand, wasn’t originally the game’s protagonist, but Kagami was. Before Chuhou Joutai got its name, there was another girl who accompanied Kagami named Shira Katsumoto. She had pure pink hair and was said to be one of the cutest characters I ever created by a friend of mine.

At least one of her favorite things to dress in… is kimono.

Kagami is a member of the Ochiai Clan, a group of youkai Shintoists whose goal was to establish equality between the humanoid and youkai ethical groups. As suggested above, her entire family enjoys traditional Japanese rites, like dressing in kimono (pictured above). But hey, she’s a huge fan of fashion and often likes claiming that she is a princess, even though she doesn’t come from royal blood. If you want to see her wearing a full-length Victorian gown, just wait.

Her bomb screen.

The wireframes above are part of a junihitoe (twelve-layer robe), a very elegant and complex kimono only worn by court ladies during important Japanese imperial rites, such as weddings or enthronement ceremonies. Kagami has worn it during Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Day) on occasion or just to recreate the Heian era.

People also ask how she got her trademark rainbow hair (it was originally all pink by the way). After contracting tonsillitis when she was like eleven and a surgeon offered to remove them in exchange for magical girl powers, why not? Of course, they put her through the operation as usual, and eventually coming out to what she is.

But I haven’t talked about her hobbies too. She is also a singer-songwriter in the field of J-pop. The only real reason Driller is attracted to her is because of seeing her in the concerts she’s been in. They eventually began to attend the same high school together and that’s when their friendship started. I already mentioned that she likes fashion. I hope her major during her future college career isn’t fashion merchandising! That’s like every female student’s major at some point during their college career.
