The massive Alpha 1.3.0 update for Touhou Meishuugeki ~ Cursed Sweeper and Bewildering Parallel has dropped early, introducing an entirely new episode, devastating boss variations, and critical balance fixes.
The Big Picture
The Extra Stage has only been live for three weeks, but developer Drillimation Systems isn’t slowing down. After an intense eleven-day development sprint, shattering the original one-month forecast, the highly anticipated Bewildering Parallel episode is officially complete and available right now in the Alpha 1.3.0 update.
With this release, the bullet hell shooter takes a massive leap toward its final form. “There is only one stage left to build,” the developer shared. “Once that’s implemented, the game will enter open beta.” If this breakneck pace continues, players can expect the beta to launch as early as August – just in time for the solar autumn.
Here is everything you need to know about what’s landing in Alpha 1.3.0.
Welcome to the Bewildering Parallel
The headliner of Alpha 1.3.0 is an entire remix of the core experience. While the 6 new stages share the layout and pacing of the Cursed Sweeper episode, they feature entirely new boss fights that will test the muscle memory of even the most seasoned players.
The update introduces:
- Brand New Boss: Prepare to face down an entirely fresh threat with Veronica Grieg.
- Boss Variations: New, modified encounters against Kotori, Helene, and Fusana.
- Midboss Mayhem: Midboss variants of Koko & Ryuuko alongside Ritsuu & Saika are ready to block your path.
Community-Driven Balance and Fixes
Drillimation Systems has also been closely tuning the experience based on player feedback. If you found yourself hit by a brick wall of difficulty in the mid-game, there is good news: enemy behaviors in Stages 3 and 5 have been adjusted to make the progression smoother after playtesters flagged them as excessively punishing.
Additionally, completionists can now track their progress without fear. A nasty, game-crashing bug that triggered when scrolling to the bottom of the spell card statistics screen has been officially squashed.
Where to Play
The Alpha 1.3.0 update is available now for both Windows and macOS via the official Touhou Meishuugeki itch.io page. The game is currently utilizing a “name your own price” model as it nears its open beta phase.
With an entirely fresh episode to conquer and crucial stability fixes under the hood, Alpha 1.3.0 makes Touhou Meishuugeki feel more robust than ever. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to jump into this cursed maid’s journey, the parallel timeline is calling.
