Preparing For the Steam Release of Touhou Meishuugeki ~ Cursed Sweeper and Bewildering Parallel

I am formally announcing that Touhou Meishuugeki ~ Cursed Sweeper and Bewildering Parallel will launch worldwide on October 2, 2026. Although the digital release will hit Steam and itch.io first, fans will get their very first chance to play the finished game in person at Cleveland Anime Fest. After months of hard work and beta testing, the game is finally complete and ready to hit our deadline.

I couldn’t think of a better place to premiere this title than Cleveland, Ohio. Located just two hours west of my home in Erie, Pennsylvania, this event marks our final convention trip of the year—following great stops in Pittsburgh and Niagara Falls earlier this spring. Cleveland has a rich history as a creative powerhouse:

  • It is the birthplace of Superman (created in Glenville in 1933 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster).
  • It inspired the idyllic Midwestern setting of Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes.
  • It was the launchpad for Harvey Pekar’s groundbreaking underground comic American Splendor.
  • It’s where DJ Alan Freed first popularized the term “rock and roll” in 1951—which inspired us to write all of the game’s boss themes in that genre!

Catch Us Live This October

If you want to try the game in person, here is where you can find us:

Exhibiting in larger cities like Pittsburgh, Niagara Falls, and Cleveland has allowed us to connect with amazing crowds, showcase gameplay on the big screen, and see live reactions—from laughs to cheers. While traveling and setting up independent booths takes a lot of effort, sharing games with a live audience makes it all worth it.

Because we operate as an independent studio rather than a AAA developer, we book these convention appearances individually as slots open up. Due to upcoming schedule shifts (the next scheduled events in Pittsburgh, Niagara Falls, and Cleveland are 100% Pokékon) and event changes in those cities, this October trip will be our last appearance in any of the nearby areas for a while.

The Future

Organizers like OurCons.com often host niche or single-franchise events (such as Dragon Ball or TCG-focused conventions like Pokékon), which makes finding the right general anime or indie game showcase a unique challenge.

Exhibiting in neighboring cities gives us the chance to reach larger audiences and connect with gaming communities beyond our hometown. Setting up an indie booth is a huge undertaking—sometimes requiring multi-day trips for events hours away—but nothing compares to showing a new game on a big screen in front of a live crowd. Experiencing real-time reactions, laughter, and cheers makes every bit of effort worth it.

If you can’t join us in person at Cleveland or Erie, don’t worry! Touhou Meishuugeki ~ Cursed Sweeper and Bewildering Parallel will still launch worldwide on October 2, 2026 across Steam and itch.io. Like many modern indie titles, we are prioritizing our digital launch first so players can jump in without delay.

This autumn tour marks the conclusion of our current development roadmap (Phase Two). Thank you to everyone who has cheered us on—we can’t wait for you to experience the game!

  1. Congratulations on this fantastic milestone! 🎮🎉 Bringing Touhou Meishuugeki ~ Cursed Sweeper and Bewildering Parallel from months of development and beta testing to a worldwide launch is a tremendous achievement, especially for an independent studio.

I love that Cleveland was chosen for the first live premiere. The connection between the city’s creative heritage—from Superman and Calvin and Hobbes to rock and roll—and a game whose boss themes embrace that musical tradition makes the choice feel wonderfully fitting.
