Touhou Meishuugeki Alpha V1.2.0 Now Out

Drillimation Systems is turning up the heat this summer with two new boss additions and a high-intensity challenge.

Fresh off the heels of its massive Alpha 1.1.0 update, which brought highly anticipated fan favorites Yukari Yakumo and Kaguya Houraisan to the playable roster, Drillimation has dropped the next major milestone in the development of Touhou Meishuugeki ~ Cursed Sweeper and Bewildering Parallel. Alpha 1.2.0 is officially on the horizon, shifting the game heavily into the second half of its development cycle.

The headline of this new update is also the highly anticipated arrival of a brutal new Extra Stage, complete with a fully finalized narrative framework, two new BGM tracks, and boss encounters that promise to push danmaku veterans to their absolute limits.

A Devilish Duo Enters the Fray

While the previous update focused heavily on expanding player options and completing the Cursed Sweeper storyline, Alpha 1.2.0 is all about threatening your high scores. Drillimation has revealed that the Extra Stage will feature two massive boss additions to the game:

• Koakuma: The subtle fan-favorite library assistant from the Scarlet Devil Mansion makes her presence known.
• Camille Scarlet: Coming over from Mythos of Phantasmagoria as the mother of Remilia and Flandre Scarlet, Camille joins the chaos to bring a completely unique flavor to the danmaku madness and Scarlet Devil Mansion

Drillimation notes that the visual asset creation, character illustrations, and sprite sheets for the second half of the game are in the works. The team is currently finalizing the stage layout and fine-tuning engine performance to ensure the complex, screen-filling spell cards run flawlessly.

What Else to Expect

Beyond the technical hurdles of coding raw attack patterns, Drillimation is keeping a close eye on player feedback. Alpha V1.2.0 will continue to polish the foundation laid by V1.1.0, tracking down lingering bugs and monitoring performance based on recent player reports.

Between the introduction of the first downward-scrolling stages added in the last update in May and the brutal new extra stage added today, Touhou Meishuugeki is rapidly shaping up to be the definitive Drillimation Danmaku Universe experience.

As the new patch rolls out, Drillimation is expecting players to follow our social media channels for the next major update, which will include the Bewildering Parallel story arc, to drop in late July.
