August 2024 Monthly Digest

July wasn’t nearly as bad as last year, but as I’ve always said, it’s unfortunately that time of the year again. Summer for our Northern Hemisphere players is coming to an end and in a couple weeks, we will all be back in school with the start of yet another school year.

Before I begin the Key Developments over the past month, I would like to thank all of those who have viewed and liked my content over the past ten years. I started Drillimation on August 20, 2014 when I was just a lone freshman in high school. I founded it to make GoAnimate content which lasted for a year and a half. At the end of 2015, I adopted the Dream Logos Wiki and my popularity started to grow. I also got into the gaming industry at around the same time.

My tenure on the Dream Logos Wiki lasted until I resigned in December 2019. At the start of the coronavirus pandemic, I released the first Chuhou Joutai game and Touhou Project NES Demake. The Touhou 1: The Highly Responsive to Prayers NES Demake got popular, resulting in me making demakes of the rest of the PC-98 Touhou Project games. Ten games later, I am showing no sign of stopping.

I hope to make it to 15 in 2029. I can’t believe it’s been this long. Drillimation has triumphed over multiple major world events including a global pandemic. I started with my twice weekly upload schedule on YouTube starting in the early 2020s. Depending on how things go, Drillimation shall have no end. My tenure shall last for as long as I’m alive. Despite the crude art directions of my early games, the demakes were partly successful. I hope to keep Drillimation going for another ten years.

Key Developments Over the Past Month

The main campaign for Touhou Kichouden ~ Mythos of Phantasmagoria 2 has crossed the halfway mark. As I’ve previously said, I want to get the whole game done by the end of this year. I have been using the tactics that E. Enthusiasm has employed for the graphics.

Statistics on Social Media Platforms

Over the past two months, the number of subscribers to this site has increased by 258, going from 683 to 941.

Twitter

Tweet analytics are no longer available as it has been electronic artsed to Premium users only. However, followers increased by 77 for a total of 6,405.

Instagram

Drillimation decided to try boosting posts on Instagram as a way to increase engagement. It happened to work with likes returning to what it was before Instagram removed the Recent tab from hashtag pages. Compared to previous months:

• Views increased fivefold, reaching nearly 8,000 views.
• Followers increased by 83 for a total of 3,299 followers.
• Followers on Threads stagnated and only increased by 30. However, hashtags have finally been added to Threads, allowing for more engagement.

YouTube

• Over the past two months, content on YouTube was viewed over 16,000 times. Those Super Mario RPG remixes seem to be pushing the channel through the algorithm.
• Subscribers increased by 54 for a total of 625 subscribers. Drillimation hit the 600 subscriber month last month.

Future Goals

Touhou Kichouden ~ Mythos of Phantasmagoria 2 has several challenges to go through in order to get to the light at the end of the tunnel.
