Oh, man. I can’t believe we made it to the end of yet another year. It’s December and it’s Christmastime again already. Despite being a glitchy mess, I’ve finished Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Ask me, what are you going to buy this holiday season? Before you comment, let me tell you about all the big things that are happening at Drillimation.
Possible Return of Studio Emiko!?
By looking at the video above, a few days ago I heard about a possible return of Studio Emiko to game development. If you recall from this post in August, Studio Emiko announced that they would quit game development and move to the VTubing industry. Well, four months later, is she really returning? We don’t know.
This new game is titled Touhou Kyoujuuya and will be a danmaku shooter instead of an RPG. Simply put, you can count the four canceled Touhou Project fangames Touhou Tenkijou, Muse Genaroku, Tenrai Bakufu, and Touhou Tenchiki being repurposed as Touhou Kourinden. This game is currently in pre-production with the engine still in development. We don’t know when it will be complete, so you may have to close your eyes for a year or two.
When the first Chuhou Joutai game was being made, it took a couple of months for the Touhou-style engine to be recreated in GameMaker.
The Great Transition
Drillimation will spend the entire month of December preparing for the big transition that will take place in January. If you recall in the July 2022 Monthly Update, Drillimation is introducing a new logo. We created this new logo to better meet the demand of players from all over the globe, and promote global unity between people of all ethnic cultures and faiths.
We aimed to get the danmaku genre out to a wider audience with our old logo. Some players are getting tired of seeing our old logo, and we felt we needed a better way to appeal to our fans. All future games will make use of this logo. You will see it in everything that we brand or produce. The end of this month will mark the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.
