Monthly Updates: July 2022

Hi, this is Driller from Drillimation.

Tomorrow marks one year since the release of Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided! and over the past six months, the third Chuhou Joutai game has been in development. We hope you are enjoying the demo for Chuhou Joutai 3: Three Nights of Scarlet Abscess. It’s been more than a month and a half since my MacBook arrived, and I’ve spent the past few weeks getting caught up on the Marvel Cinematic Universe which was a major inspiration for the Chuhou Joutai series’ humor.

Initially, the demo got delayed to July 1, which is today, but due to outstanding circumstances, we were able to get the demo completed and released on time. I also want to mention that development is complete, and the game has now entered the post-production phase. The Steam quality assurance tests your game must go through can be a little annoying and such. This problem plagued both the demo and the actual Steam page. If you want to read the story of those failures, you’re welcome to.

I had just completed development of Chuhou Joutai 3 last month. I was preparing the Steam store page in advance. The first thing I did was create vector renders of the four playable characters like I always do. The trailer came after creating the vector renders, which are featured in the trailer and banner, alongside the other graphical assets.

After I got all that done, I was ready to send it to Valve for review while I went back to making original PC-98 arranges, alongside FamiTracker originals for Studio Emiko’s Tenrai Bakufu. Well, three days after the initial review, I hear back from Valve that I needed to include the game features in the store page description. That is a must for every single game that is published through Steam.

After I got through the process of getting the store page up, I began working on the demo page and hit a few problems from there. For the graphical part, I couldn’t use the same graphics as the main game because when you create a demo package on Steam, it applies a Demo label over the small capsule and header graphics, and I was told by Valve to ensure the game’s logos can be clearly readable, even at the smallest resolution. Unfortunately, I could not put the game’s subtitle inside the small capsule, so I had to omit it entirely.

I was met with more problems when I got to the quality assurance phase. The first problem was the game not launching because I forgot to set a launch option. So, I resent it again and it failed a second time, this time it was a crash on launch error. The program would quit unexpectedly upon starting because of a programming error. I fixed that and was able to get it working again. All tests passed by June 20, just four days before the demo was scheduled to release.

Drillimation to Introduce New Logo in January 2023

Anyway, you’re probably tired of me rambling about my experience with making Chuhou Joutai 3. Drillimation is announcing major changes as illustrated in the image above. Drillimation Systems has decided to implement a new mission and philosophy and will also be introducing a new logo that will embody this new purpose. These changes will go into effect on January 1, 2023, which incidentally is the same day the winter 2023 edition of the State of the Prophet Driller.

Whenever a logo would use a novelty typeface, some of these do not meet the demand of consumers. All of our fans have diverse needs, and this new philosophy aims to meet all global market needs and strengthen Drillimation’s presence worldwide.

Our philosophy expresses all creative, analytical, and critical reasons for why Drillimation exists. These are developed based on internal and external surveys, as well as discussions from clients all over the globe. Starting next year, our philosophy will ultimately define what Drillimation is and how we shape our vision for the upcoming year.

Our goal is to go where no other developer has gone before. Connecting people of different cultures and faiths through the use of our games help people take the chance to explore cultures and civilizations that they would not normally be exposed to.

Our old logo was created in 2016 and expressed diversity through the rainbow of colors that were chosen. This new logo will reflect our new philosophy, and all Drillimation-branded products will use it. This will enable us to present a more sophisticated image for global audiences.

The new logo’s distinctive red color is meant to help players get hyped for new products we produce. The typeface used is meant to symbolize greatness. Our products connect fans from all over the world and also helps generate every amazing, shocking, and magical moment that can be truly epic. With this new logo, it will certainly begin the next era for Drillimation and communicate the reason for our existence.

Some of you wanted to know what would happen behind the scenes and for the future of Drillimation. I hope you look forward to the release of Chuhou Joutai 3: Three Nights of Scarlet Abscess this fall or spring for our Southern Hemisphere players and I hope you’re enjoying your summer or winter if you live in the Southern Hemisphere.
