After six months in active development, Drillimation Systems’ newest manic shooter moves into post-production with the feature-packed open beta.
Drillimation Systems has officially announced that Touhou Meishuugeki ~ Cursed Sweeper and Bewildering Parallel has entered Open Beta with the release of a brand new update. The milestone marks the end of six months of core development as the project transitions into its final post-production phase.
The Touhou Project fangame tasks players with investigating a strange curse through intense, pattern-heavy gameplay. With the jump to open beta, players can now download and test the latest build on Windows and macOS via itch.io.
What’s New in the Beta?
The Beta update introduces several major additions and long-awaited community features:
- Phantasm Stage and Boss Fight: A brand-new end-game stage featuring a challenging boss encounter.
- Multiplayer Mode: Players can now take on the danmaku action together.
- Replay System: Save and review full playthroughs or individual stage runs.
Developer Notes and Known Issues
Alongside the release, Drillimation Systems shared details regarding the technical hurdles faced while building the new Replay System. Due to initial desynchronization issues, large portions of the game logic were rewritten to ensure movement physics and graphics stayed aligned.
Because of these underlying changes, the team notes that certain enemy behaviors, item drops, or boss patterns may exhibit occasional bugs. Players are encouraged to submit bug reports to the project’s GitHub repository. Additionally, full playthrough replays can reach over 3MB in size, which may cause a brief pause during memory loading.
Where to Play
The open beta for Touhou Meishuugeki ~ Cursed Sweeper and Bewildering Parallel is available now for PC (Windows) and macOS under a “Name Your Own Price” model on itch.io. Players interested in leaving feedback or testing the new multiplayer and replay features can download the Beta zip archives directly today.
