Drillimation Announces Partnership With DistroKid to Distribute Game Albums on Music Platforms

Last week, Drillimation Systems opened up an Official Artist Channel for its in-house record label Drillimation Records. This venture has been made possible through a partnership with aggregator DistroKid, an industry-leading independent music distribution service. This collaboration marks a major milestone as the Drillimation Danmaku Universe game soundtracks will transition from being made exclusively on Bandcamp to every major streaming platform worldwide.

For years, the game soundtracks have lived primarily on Bandcamp. While the platform is recommended for new artists, Drillimation aims to make the game soundtracks as accessible as possible. Through this partnership, these high-energy tracks will be available wherever people get their music. Aside from easier integration into personal and public playlists and a more seamless experience for longtime players who have been demanding the soundtracks be on more platforms, it will serve as a way for players to discover our games for the first time, creating new fans.

Drillimation can’t simply drop one album at a time and call it a day. Over the next several weeks, Drillimation will begin a phased rollout of its entire catalog, starting with the Akyu’s Retro Score series (Touhou Project NES Demakes), followed by Ayako’s MODded Score (Chuhou Joutai), the two standalone Emiverse games, and eventually the Mythos of Phantasmagoria duology and the Chuhou Joutai prequel Shining Shattering Sky ~ Reverie of Breaking Unreality. Everything from the early days of Drillimation Systems to the most recent titles will get the momentum going. Fans will have to keep an eye on their social media channels for specific release dates and first listen previews of upcoming drops.

For fans who do not want to miss a single beat, YouTube users who are already subscribed to the official Drillimation Systems YouTube channel can subscribe to the Drillimation Records Official Artist Channel to get notified the second a new game soundtrack hits the platform. Drillimation also encourages fans to share their favorite themes on social media as a way to see which themes make it into a person’s daily rotation.

This partnership represents a major step forward for the Drillimation Danmaku Universe, with Drillimation’s goal always being to share the sounds of the franchise with as many players as possible, and with excitement to finally see these tracks living on the same playlists as everyone’s favorite artists. As it expands into this new digital frontier, it will never be too late for veteran players or newcomers to discover the music in high quality across all platforms.
