Drillimation has Discontinued Technical Support for Chuhou Joutai 1 and Touhou 1: The Highly Responsive to Prayers NES Demake

On midnight of Friday the 13th of January 2023, Drillimation has pulled the plug for technical support for the first two games the studio ever developed: Chuhou Joutai: The Middle State of War and Touhou 1: The Highly Responsive to Prayers NES Demake. Both those games were released in early 2020, and since then, Drillimation had released six new games, all of which are sequels to the two games discontinued. However, a lot of players still like those two titles.

If you’ve only played those two titles and not the others, you’re not alone. Both games are two of the most popular titles by Drillimation. Although both titles will still be downloadable and playable, this also means an end to updates and patches to fix bugs.

We were passionate about our players who loved those two titles. We provided support for those two games for the past three years. The time had come, and every video game series is a coming-of-age story. The kids who played those titles are also coming of age in the real world too. Along with our software engineers and other talented musicians and artists, we must invest our resources toward supporting more recent technologies so we can deliver more amazing, shocking, and magical moments that can be truly epic.

When the coronavirus pandemic swept the world, a lot of people who were locked away in quarantine took to those two games to pass the time. Now that the virus has become endemic and with a lot of the world’s population vaccinated, people are no longer staying home and walking back to their pre-pandemic settings.

Eventually, as technology moves into the future and eventually into the next decade, it may or may not be possible to play those two games on PCs that may run the next major version of Windows or MacOS. Because the source code is old and roughly 3-5 years old, we may furthermore have to redesign those titles from the ground up if we plan to do console or remastered ports.

We would like to thank our players for helping popularize us on the web and propelling us into the future. Please continue to support and grow Drillimation by liking our posts, mentioning us in your own posts to show your passion, following us, and more importantly subscribing to us. You can do it all on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch, Discord, and Patreon.
