Monthly Updates: February 2021

Hi, this is Driller from Drillimation Systems.

I can’t believe it’s February already and for our players in the Northern Hemisphere, only six weeks of winter remain! Despite school starting back up again for us, Chuhou Joutai 2‘s development is going so well, we actually got the first stage done a week early. We’re halfway throughout the second stage, as I’m still preparing assets for it.

Despite this, things are going to be a little different this semester. Since I’m back at the Hurst, I hate to say this but this is actually my last semester living at Mercyhurst University. Due to me having too much stuff on my hands, especially that MIDI keyboard, I will be commuting to Mercyhurst during my senior year, similar to how I commuted during the fall semester of my first year.

Additionally, this is also the third year in a row I had a solo dorm; my roommate actually moved to a different room this semester. My roommate from last year actually left partway through the semester because his parents were unable to pay the tuition. My first year I had no roommate.

Because of the natural ethic of being pounded with schoolwork on a weekly basis, I will be dedicating programming on the weekends and never on weekdays because school and other stuff gets in the way. My habit of chopping off long periods of time last semester just to work on the Touhou 2: The Story of Eastern Wonderland NES Demake caused my GPA to tank horrendously. If I don’t do well this semester, I’ll just concede, withdraw from Mercyhurst, give up my fight for my major, and pursue game dev full time.

Now that week 1 is already done and we’re now into week 2 of 16, let’s hope we have a good semester as the pandemic winds down in the US thanks to a vaccine in place. We’re already over a quarter of the way of vaccinating 100 million, even though we’re already 10 days into Biden’s presidency.

So, as we welcome the Year of the Ox in the Chinese calendar, have a safe February players.
