Following a recent Facebook Update, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced last night that they would temporarily hide all recent posts from all hashtags to avoid misinformation on the 2020 US Election. As a result, Drillimation will not be performing any liking activity until at least November 4, 2020.
This is not the first time Instagram has blocked recent posts; Instagram has blocked the recent posts tab from certain hashtags that did not abide by Instagram’s Community Guidelines. The decision to enact this temporary ban is due to “elevated risks” of civil unrest. Over the past few months, Facebook has banned political speech and ads that pertain to the 2020 US Election. Twitter, on the other hand, has banned all political speech prior the 2020 US Election.
While Drillimation respects all users’ political positions in the US, we believe accurate election information and helping US users register to vote is crucial in society, while problematic content like election misinformation poses a great threat to Facebook and Instagram users.
