December 2025 Monthly Digest

I can’t believe we made it to the end of yet another year for us at Drillimation Systems. As we prepare to close out 2025 and the snow gets ready to fall, I want to take a moment to reflect how extraordinary of a year we’ve had at Drillimation. Whether you’ve played Touhou Chouhatsuyou ~ Burgeoning Tresses of Longevity or Touhou Kichouden ~ Mythos of Phantasmagoria 2, I will explain what has been going on over the past month and give a sneak peek at our 2026 plans.

Key Developments

Engine for New Touhou Project Fangame in the Works

Drillimation Systems has begun the process of rewriting Driller Engine so it could be more in line with Danmakufu. It is intended to resolve the previous issues we’ve had with the old engine, which was not user-friendly. Shining Shattering Sky ~ Reverie of Breaking Unreality, which is undergoing beta testing, was the first to test this new engine out.

Mythos of Phantasmagoria 2 Sequel Web Novel Close to Halfway Point

While we have been busy working on the new Touhou Project fangame engine, the web novel that serves as the sequel to Touhou Kichouden ~ Mythos of Phantasmagoria 2, we’re close to the midway point. It’s sure hard to write 2,000 words per chapter. Nevertheless, the prologue chapter will release on December 28, 2025 for free, while Patrons will get access to each chapter a week before publication on both Pixiv and Drillimation’s website.

Statistics

We had a decline in growth over the past month; the website’s subscribers increased by only 41 for a total of 2,292 today.

Twitter

Now that our Twitter engagement has returned to a golden age, the follower count has increased by a whopping 151 for a total of 7,127 followers today. However, that’s not the only thing that I’m talking about…

It’s been so long, but we finally smashed 7,000 followers on Twitter, thanks to that growing rate. We could hit 10,000 followers at this pace in 2026, who knows?

The follower count on Bluesky, over the past month, increased by 71 for a total of 2,326 followers today.

Future Goals

Both the new Touhou Project fangame and sequel webnovel will be our goal in 2026. They won’t start until the first Monday in January, and nonetheless we will be presenting at two anime conventions in Pittsburgh on February 1, and in Niagara Falls on March 8.
