Why I Always Prefer the First Half of the Year

In my area, I’m a person who prefers the first half of the year when it comes to time. That is, if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere. When a year begins, the days will get longer and the weather warmer. Not to mention, the cherry trees also bloom during that time. But when you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, that’s the second half of the year.

The only exception is in tropical areas and the equator, where it’s summer year-round. The only difference is the heat can get really cranked up, especially in the summer, which just so happens to be my favorite season. Compare that to winter, which in my area lasts from November to March. The majority of Canada seems to be in that range, with the exception of some locations where winter runs from October to May, or even year-round in the northernmost areas, namely the Arctic.

The northern areas of the contiguous United States, including Alaska, seem to be in that range. Though I don’t live in Canada myself, I end up experiencing a lot of the same weather that they do, with hot summers and cold winters. In fact, those traveling to visit Drillimation’s booth at conventions are faced with a travel advisory for conventions taking place in the winter. That’s only if they take place in locations that experience snow during the winter.

To me, the only months where I can get the most of summer is between May and October.

  2. I also prefer the first half. Something about that second half seems to bring me down every year. When the days turn into being dark when you leave for work, and it’s dark again when you get off work, I tend to get really down. I am a person of light in the darkness, yet, the light within me gets so dim during that second half.

  3. Second semester is always when the fun stuff happens, which is why I like the first half as well. But at the same time, through the dark and gloomy days of the second half, I do grow a lot. So maybe I just use that learning on the first half which makes it better.
