Three Years Ago Today, an Era Was Completed

Today marks three years since the release of Chuhou Joutai 3: Three Nights of Scarlet Abscess, and 2025 marks the fifth anniversary of the release of the original Chuhou Joutai. To celebrate, I released the soundtracks for those three games on Bandcamp for free streaming. You can also purchase them if you want to listen to them while you work.

This year, we released three albums, each containing the soundtrack of one of the Chuhou Joutai games. They are digitally remastered so they sound better than what you heard in-game. This soundtrack collection is represented by Ayako Sugiwara, who is the ex-girlfriend of series protagonist Susumu Takajima. She is intrigued by Driller preventing the disappearance of the Kirisame Dynasty.

All of Phase One of the Drillimation Danmaku Universe consists of the Chuhou Joutai trilogy and the Touhou Project NES Demakes. When that phase was completed, it has been recorded in our chronicle.

Even though a prequel is in development, that doesn’t mean Chuhou Joutai is done in all its glory. Several tracks from the three games have made their way into the Hifuu albums that are being produced – a series that started last summer with releases every June and December.

When we remix these songs for the albums, we give it a feel in the style of the games we produce. Our goal is to make sure it helps you follow the rhythm and be a part of the game’s story and atmosphere. It doesn’t make you lonely; it makes the saga more adventurous. Every stage theme has a theme or environment in mind, and the boss themes relate to a specific character.

When it comes to the later games, many of the songs I’ve improvised a long time ago may likely make the cut. I do my best to clean it up and get it to my modern standards. When an original prototype has a series of chord progressions that repeat over and over, a melody is added so the song can reveal more of itself as you listen to it.

As we’ve progressed, the music has become more superior than the one’s we’ve written in the past, and it paves the way for the future. The comments we put in make us think of being entranced by an air of mystery. It doesn’t matter how much of an impact it makes on the end consumer.

No one knows what the future holds. The future will hold a different story. Listen to our soundtracks here.
