Work Becomes Boring Without Music

How long does it take for Drillimation Systems to make a game? It varies depending on the size and scope. And it’s not just games that I make – I also make the associated assets, including music and graphics. On average, a simple Drillimation game spends a few months, but if the game is a lot more complex or sophisticated, it will usually take around six months to a year.

The Touhou 5: Mystic Square NES Demake had the shortest development at two weeks, while the original Chuhou Joutai took many times longer at a year and a half – the amount of time needed to make an average game from scratch. Whenever I’m programming things and creating graphics, I may usually have time to listen to the soundtrack of an entire game. I’m always listening to music whenever I do these things, unless it involves voiceover, music composition, or any other audio job. It’s the only thing that keeps me sane.

One of the most difficult things when making games is finding the time while at the same time balancing it with your personal time, as well as academic and work schedules. It’s difficult to not be distracted by other things all the time. For example, if you dedicate forty days to making a game without any breaks in between, you still need breaks for things like eating or sleeping. For an average school or work week, you would only get three days a week to work on it. It will be tough trying to find any easy shortcuts. It is a time-consuming procedure.
