Ranking Every Digital Homicide Game with the AVGN’S 💩 Scale

Digital Homicide is considered by many to be one of the worst game developers in the world. They gained their infamy by releasing sixty shovelware games and attacking those who criticized them. They only gained their notoriety after Jim Sterling reviewed their game The Slaughtering Grounds and started what I just mentioned. Their downfall would happen after they sued Sterling for assault, libel, and slander, and requesting a subpoena for a hundred anonymous Steam users, which resulted in Valve banning them from Steam. I don’t know what would happen if James Rolfe reviewed every one of their games on The Angry Video Game Nerd.

The 💩 Scale

I prefer to use an emoji for the first word in the name because I prefer not to trigger any profanity filters. James Rolfe has used this scale to measure how poor a game is in terms of reception. The six categories are as follows:

  • Debatably Bad: The game is somewhat good, but has some serious flaws.
  • High Contamination: The game is possible to play, but no one in their right mind would.
  • Very High: The game is still beatable, but you would come out traumatized for life.
  • Severe Zone: The game is a horrible abomination for mankind, and could kill you if you were dumb enough to play it.
  • Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: The game is so bad, it doesn’t fit into any of the above categories, but only if they still qualify as a “game”.
  • Major Code Red: The game doesn’t even qualify as a game.

Every Known Game, Ranked

Because of the inability to tolerate criticism and the lawsuits that Digital Homicide did, a lot of their games would be ranked from the Severe Zone and below, though there are a few exceptions.

Debatably BadNone
High ContaminationDungeons of Kragmor
Very HighNone
Severe ZoneThe Slaughtering Grounds, Deadly Profits, Galactic Hitman
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. HydeStarship: Nova Strike, Mini Attack Submarine
Major Code RedWyatt Derp (and its sequel), Starship: Nova Strike, Mini Attack Submarine, Winged Knight Penetration, The Decimation of Olarath

If you feel there should be changes on how the games would be ranked, don’t hesitate to comment.
