Yesterday, Drillimation released their third “Hifuu” album as part of a collection of compilation albums produced by Drillimation under the name of Azure Celestial Wonder. The term Hifuu refers to the Secret Sealing Club, a fictional school club existing in the Touhou Project universe. The albums consist of original tracks and remixed songs, and typically come with a short story. These tracks are intended for casual listening and not gameplay accompaniment. Sometimes, the original songs contained within these albums get remixed into the official games.
The Secret Sealing Club consists of Renko Usami and Maribel Hearn, who are two university students studying the occult. Even if you think occultism may go against Christian or Catholic values, all they do is seek out the boundaries of reality by traveling between worlds. Drillimation’s interpretation changes things up a bit by placing the two members in historical outfits rather than being in modern day ones, and putting them in various situations, whether in the past or present.
Typically, the original and remixed songs that Drillimation produces end up in one of these compilation albums at some point. The PC-98 originals, including original arranges, are compiled into their own standalone albums without any story at the end of each calendar year. The EoSD-style originals end up in the Hifuu albums and have two releases a year: one in June and the other in December.
In order to balance the content of Drillimation’s YouTube channel, Drillimation has decided to change things up by not having more than two of the same premise of video in order to balance out their albums. For example, one week could consist of a PC-98 original and remix, and another could have an EoSD original and/or remix. Sometimes, a song from another style in the past could be shoehorned in between while still following the same rules. It can even happen if a commission comes in.
This new upload format is scheduled to take effect starting in July.
