One Month Later – Hosokawa Has Still Not Returned to Discord

A month has passed since the Discord account of Emiko Hosokawa was hacked. Unfortunately, she still has not returned to Discord. The reason for this long delay is due to final exams that are taking place and university preparations.

What came next was a barrage of replies from spambots promoting unofficial services that could potentially put the Prophet’s own Discord account at risk. Drillimation was not willing to take that route. Her account was hacked the weekend before Touhou Chouhatsuyou ~ Burgeoning Tresses of Longevity released.

After weeks of research, no luck has been found. If the inevitable happens where her account is deleted, she could always make a new one with the same email address, though she might not get the same username.

Drillimation Systems has employed multi-factor authentication to secure their Discord account as well as their other social media channels so that nobody except the Prophet and authorized services can access it. When there is a login attempt from a new device, a code is required to continue.

Another recommendation for security is strong passwords through a combination of alphanumeric characters and symbols without repetition. Personally identifiable information and overly generic passwords can greatly increase an account’s chance of being compromised. It is also recommended that a third-party password manager such as LastPass or 1Password be used to maintain regular password changes and keep the passwords unique.

It is recommended that users use caution when authorizing any third-party apps to use their Discord account, as some services can be malware and have complete access to a user’s account. If a user is sharing a computer or device with someone else or using a public computer, they must remember to log out when they are done.
