VTuber Ciel Chandelleur of Studio Emiko Going On Indefinite Social Media Activity Hiatus Hours After Announcing Possible Debut Date

Studio Emiko announced yesterday on November 6 that Ciel Chandelleur, a VTuber produced by the company with a possible debut date on November 23 or 24, announced a sudden indefinite hiatus from social media activities. In the announcement, Ciel used the detail of overzealous vampire hunters going after her as a creative euphemism for her hiatus – given the lore behind her character.

“School students face a lot of pressure when trying to start a content creator career. Those external factors include assignments and exams, as well as parental interference. On the academic side, students will always be enrolled in two or more extracurricular activities, or sometimes even cram school for university preparation. On the other side, the parental interference comes from the conservative side of things and are usually restrictive on their freedom,” Drillimation Systems CEO Susumu Takajima said in a statement.

“The childhood part of life is essentially like a video game. Birth is simply starting a new game and when you’re in the early part of the story, a lot of the things you want to do are locked until you complete specific objectives or after a certain amount of time has passed. Reaching adulthood and graduating from high school is like defeating the final boss and beating the game, and the postgame includes university and other tertiary education,” Takajima also said.

While it is not currently known when will Ciel return from the hiatus, rumors from Emiko Hosokawa’s end speculate that she might return in two weeks’ time, on November 20 – given her real-world affairs don’t interfere with her plans for Ciel. Because of this, the exact debut date for Ciel remains unclear.
