If You’re Gonna Become a Programmer, Math and Algebra are the Key

If you’re a computer programmer, mathematics will become a key part of what you do. And so will algebra. This is especially true if you’re creating a video game.

When I was in school, mathematics seemed to interest me the most, unlike most other subjects typically taught. Pretty much every aspect taught in all grade levels seems to be incorporated in most programming languages, including the basics such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing values, as well as the more advanced concepts such as rounding, absolute values, exponents, and square roots.

If that’s not enough, many geometry and trigonometry functions can also be found in many programming languages, such as sin and cosign, and you can even set up matrixes in three-dimensional situations. What about calculus? Good luck trying to program stuff with that, even if you’ve mastered it as much as you could.

  1. That’s really interesting! Good to know for those kids who always ask, “When am I ever going to use this again???” It also makes me appreciate those that are good at math because I certainly am not! Lol! I can describe the emotion and the feelings associated with doing math, because I like writing, but doing the actual math? Not good at all.

  2. This is such a great post to read and do informative on knowing that the things Wally of us don’t want to learn when we were young, turn out to be some of the most important things we’re need in life everyday when we are older. I hated algebra but now wish I learn it more as I focus on wanting to start a business. Love this post, keep up the great work and stay Blessed to you, your family, and all your subscribers and supporters.
