Next Drillimation Project 25% Complete, Helligbard Series on Hold

Drillimation’s next project, which is said to be titled Touhou Kichouden, has reached the 25% completion mark on Monday. If Drillimation spends roughly two to three weeks on a single eighth of the game, the main campaign could be finished by either September or October.

On the other side with Studio Emiko, CEO Emiko Hosokawa announced on Tuesday that the Helligbard fanfiction series is currently on hiatus with no return until further notice. The hiatus ended up coming as a result of Studio Emiko planning to return to the VTubing industry, only to be faced with difficulties regarding the availability of Steam in Studio Emiko’s home country of Vietnam. As a result, Drillimation announced last Thursday that the company would become the exclusive distributor for all future Emiverse (now titled Emiko Anthological Universe but will still be abbreviated under its former name) game projects. Through this deal, Hosokawa would direct the titles while Drillimation would handle most of the programming and graphics (with additional help from E. Enthusiasm, who provided the graphics for Touhou Meijinka ~ Song of Divine Tempest).

The series was in danger of being canceled following a recent string of disasters in Japan at the beginning of this year, but a member from Studio Emiko’s legal team confirmed that the all persons fictitious disclaimer where all characters and events portrayed in the series are not based on real figures, reducing the chances of negative backlash from readers and possible lawsuits from activists.

Future possible projects after Touhou Kichouden is complete may include a second Emiverse project that will be directed by Susumu Takajima, as well as a future fangame featuring the characters of Fan-made Virtual Autography, a Touhou Project fangame produced by Northern Mind. Said title would be a crossover with the Kaisendou franchise which is another Touhou Project fangame series.

  1. I love reading about Drillimation and friends. Emiko is getting to be a very familiar name and today I learned what V-tubing is! I’d never knew it existed! I was curious about what you meant by Vtubing, so I looked it up and learned about its founder, Kizuna AI, who is widely considered the first Vtuber (2016). I’d like to watch some Vtubes and I’m going to see if I can find some on the web! So interesting, as usual, and thank you!🦚🔆🌻
