The Life of the Drillimation Danmaku Universe’s Reimu Hakurei

Any player familiar with Touhou Project will always know who Reimu Hakurei is. She is the shrine maiden and chief priest of the Hakurei Shrine. In the Drillimation Danmaku Universe, did you know she was the first chief justice of the Federal Kingdom of Gensokyo’s supreme court?

During her tenure, she favored a concept of federalism that would give each of the Federal Kingdom of Gensokyo’s provinces their utmost power as most people know it today. She grew up in a town that would become Kozankyo. When the Federal Kingdom of Gensokyo was established, Queen Marisa, the kingdom’s first monarch, nominated Hakurei as the first chief justice.

She promptly established herself by expressing a broad view of the kingdom’s power in domestic policy. She aimed to limit the federal government’s control over the provincial governments by enforcing equal protection of Gensokyo’s laws.

She served as the Chief Priest of the Hakurei Shrine and the Supreme Court until her death at the age of 80. On April 26, 1751, the Hakurei Shrine announced that she had been diagnosed with anaplastic thyroid cancer. She continued to serve on the Supreme Court until her death at the Hakurei Shrine on March 3 of the following year.
