Game Development: Fun But Tiring

If you’ve played a video game before, you probably had an intent to enter the video game industry by creating your own games. Roughly one in three video game otaku choose to pursue a career in that industry. What they don’t even tell you is your life does not get easy right away.

Creating a video game requires a lot of skill and talent. I happen to possess most of those skills, but after a full day of development, it’s easy to get overwhelmed.

I’ve been in the industry ever since I graduated from high school for nearly six years now. My first major project, Chuhou Joutai, took two years to make. It was a tough challenge. Every game I made since that has been easier from the get-go.

What do I do whenever I’m overwhelmed after a morning or afternoon of work? Most of the time, I play other games. I’m a huge fan of JRPGs, particularly Pokémon. I’m mostly an arcade guy and play other genres as well.

There may be other things to help you cope after a day full of work. I understand. Game development is sure tiring.

  1. Video games are vital, so they are a part of my daily life. I love so many games, I am not going to list them all but I can tell.you there’s one game I play every day for sure and that’s Mario Kart 😍 What kind of game are you working on right now? I tried learning how to code and stuff but it’s not for me. I love animation and motion comics so I’m always working on something 🤩

  2. I had to step out after Brawl, being old and all, but I was so enthralled there were times I’d have hurt people who tried to make me quit. I told my son if he did something one more time I’d leap on him like a panther and he did so I did! I can’t imagine being born into that world. I love Mario Kart too

  3. I agree it is tough. There are a lot of resources and scripts to think about. Not to mention blueprints, depending on the engine. That’s just the outline. Lol
