Reflecting on Drillimation’s 2021 – Contemplating the Next Year in Development

Here’s the new design for Queen Marisa.

This is apparently the last post for 2021. As another year in Drillimation’s world is coming to a close, I can basically reflect on what Drillimation did over 2021. Do note that we dress Marisa Kirisame like that to close out and open years. It’s essentially a great way to get her out of her witch outfit and into something formal – or sometimes romantic.

When 2021 began, Drillimation had announced the second installment of the Chuhou Joutai series – Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided!. It had begun development a month prior but was finished in mid-May and ready for release on Steam. It was released over the Independence Day weekend on July 2, 2021.

After Paraided! released, we began development on the third Touhou Project NES Demake – The Phantasmagoria of Dimensional Dreams. It was a summer of development – beginning pre-production in May with programming starting in July after Paraided!‘s release. It was completed and released on September 24, 2021.

As of now, we are halfway through the development of Touhou 4: Lotus Land Story NES Demake. Getting everything done by the end of January 2022 is our key, hoping we don’t have to put out a delay like what happened with the Touhou 1: The Highly Responsive to Prayers NES Demake. I had just returned from a business trip in Washington DC and Orlando, Florida. We can start the new year with the second half of the demake.
