Hi, this is Driller from Drillimation Systems.
Welcome to summer time (or winter time if you live in the Southern Hemisphere), and Chuhou Joutai is a great game to enjoy this wonderful time of the year. That was the game we enjoyed last summer with when the coronavirus pandemic locked everybody inside. But another adventure is coming for this summer. For you guys and gals out there, put your yukatas on, sit back, and let me talk about what’s next.
Chuhou Joutai 2 is coming out on Steam next month
We are only one month away from the release of Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided! on Steam. The game is scheduled for release on July 2, 2021 over the Independence Day and Canada Day weekends for North America. This is a good reason why people in North America should wear yukata on those days – the festivities. I know it may be weird to do this in a western country, but the majority of people in Japan do this when they go to summer festivals and fireworks displays.
The Third Touhou Project NES Demake is underway
If you watch the video above and listen to those two NES-style songs in the background, you can definitely say that the third Touhou Project NES demake is going to be made. You may notice the carpet in the video above and tweet below differ, as the whole Drillimation studio was renovated. Development might not start until Paraided! is released, but I will use this month to prepare the art assets for this demake, including the sprites.
This will also be Drillimation’s first foray into online play, and the reason why I got a second controller. This game will have local and online multiplayer. We wanted to make this for the eSports scene. Several schools in my area are setting up eSports wings and I could introduce the game from there.
Come Get Some PC-98 Remixes!
Over the course of a week, I did and uploaded four PC-98 remixes of songs primarily from Touhou Project but I also did one from Duke Nukem 3D. While other western first-person shooters like Wolfenstein 3D and Doom had ports on the PC-98, Duke 3D didn’t have a port on the PC-98 at all. So, I did the rockin’ Grabbag theme song by Lee Jackson the YM-2608 chip simulate if there was a version on PC-98. I am aware that one person already did this using BambooTracker, which is the program that I now use for making PC-98 tunes and was also used for composing the soundtrack to Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided!. That version wasn’t very good and didn’t have the Touhou Project feel, so I made a new version from scratch and it’s way better than his.
That’s it!
We hope you look forward to the release of Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided! on Steam, and make sure you wishlist the game and follow our social media platforms to stay updated on the release of the game!
