The Third Chuhou Joutai Game At Two – The Future of that Game’s Mythology

Two years ago today, the third Chuhou Joutai game released as a Steam exclusive. Chuhou Joutai is among the oldest franchise ever produced by Drillimation. The trilogy established many aspects in later Drillimation games, such as the two Mythos of Phantasmagoria games which really helped explain the origin of what motivated Frederic Sam Fawkes to establish SPASDOT, and where the term Crimsonites originated.

One of Drillimation’s future goals is to remake the whole Chuhou Joutai trilogy so that it can be enjoyable for everyone. As with every major video game franchise, every generation of players will have become familiar with the plots, characters, events, and quotations of major installments. Those who could not play the originals for themselves would know them through the remakes that some of these games spawn or the associated merchandise.

Kichou Kirisame and Miho Fujiwara are two enigmatic characters who are mentioned in the game. Their story will not be told until the Mythos of Phantasmagoria sequel, where they will be featured as playable characters. Their actual appearances are not shown in game because they are being cosplayed by the two main characters of Chuhou Joutai, Susumu Takajima and Kagami Ochiai respectively.

We are aiming to have the open beta for the Mythos of Phantasmagoria sequel released on itch.io early next year. There will be no demo unlike the first game. This is because the game is intended for players who have finished the first game.
