Twitter Bug Caused Media to Be Mistakenly Marked as “Sensitive” or “Graphic”

On the morning of January 21, 2024, some Twitter users reported having their media being mistakenly flagged as sensitive or graphic, even though it doesn’t contain such material.

This problem was reportedly caused by a spam bot that flagged many legitimate accounts, including the Twitter account of Drillimation Systems as sensitive. Twitter is currently rolling out a fix for this issue. Bugs on Twitter can be rampant during the first hours of an update due to features not being fully tested for quality assurance. Some users may have reported this problem last September.

A quick workaround until this issue is fixed is to temporarily turn on the option to display sensitive media in the settings, though users could encounter posts containing material that could be offensive or upsetting. Users can appeal this warning if their post does not have sensitive content, though appeals may take several hours or even days.
