Black Friday will mark two weeks before the release of Touhou Meijinka ~ Song of Divine Tempest. But what are the inspirations behind the soundtrack including the melodies, percussion, and chord progressions in the score? Well, here it is below:
| Song | Inspiration(s) |
|---|---|
| Amidst the Musical Tempest | Other than the Theme of Eastern Story Leitmotif, none were used, though some parts were incorporated from The Tale of Roaring Thunderclaps ~ Tenrai Shinwa for the cancelled Tenrai Bakufu, which you can listen to on Kagami Ochiai’s Gagaku Works. |
| She Who Bestows Barachian Blessings | A Star of Hope Rises in the Blue Sky from Touhou 16: Hidden Star in Four Seasons was the inspiration for the song structure. Imagine it as a heavenly version of said song. |
| Novus Fulguris | This is an arrangement of Novus Fulguris from Kagami Ochiai’s Gagaku Works. The theme itself is a partial arrange of Angelic Resurrection of a Winter Avatar from Chuhou Joutai 3: Three Nights of Scarlet Abscess. You can listen to said song on Susumu Takajima’s Memorial Works. |
| Misty Borders Between the Immaterial and Material | I was told to use The Road of the Apotropaic God from Touhou 10: Mountain of Faith. Said song also inspired Hidden Beast in the Town of Dismay on Susumu Takajima’s Memorial Works, and part of that was arranged into this song. |
| Mystic Fragrance of Prayers and Incense ~ Pure Souls’ Enigma | I was asked to arrange Mysticus Seele ~ Divine Prayers. You can listen to the original on YouTube here. |
| Perpetual Scarlet of an Oriental Orléans | Lullaby of a Deserted Hell from Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism was suggested, so I wrote this one as a waltz number, and Orléans is a city in France, so it was given a French feel while the melody sounded Japanese. |
| Vengeance for What is Lost in this Sanguine Battlefield | This song combines two songs from the pre-Windows Touhou Project games: Holy Knight of Orleans from the second Seihou Project game, and Sad Doll ~ Doll of Misery from Touhou 5: Mystic Square. |
| Grand Debut On Air | None were used, since I had complete control over this theme. I did make it sound oriental since the Ochiai Clan is very traditional. |
| Fantastic Stardom ~ La Naranja Princesa | This is another remix of The Time-Leaping Youkai Girl ~ Monsoon Orange from the Phantasmagoria of Dimensional Dreams NES Demake (where the tune originated) and Chuhou Joutai 3: Three Nights of Scarlet Abscess (where the song was remixed for the first time). |
| A Hallway to the Ethereal Chorus of Paradise | The tune as a whole was inspired by Electric Heritage from Touhou 17: Wily Beast and Weakest Creature. That’s pretty much it. |
| Shining Miracle of the Angel of Music | Jane’s an android, and the theme as a whole took influence from Death By Glamour from Undertale. |
| Into the Eye of the Divine Tempest | This is just a shortened, partial arrange of Thunderclouds of Magical Power from Touhou 14: Double Dealing Character. You know who’s next… |
| Paradisiacal Primordial Light of Remiel ~ Heavenly Bliss | Raiko’s the boss, so the theme is inspired by Primordial Beat ~ Pristine Beat from Touhou 14: Double Dealing Character. |
| Into the Ethereal Realm of Eternity | I mentioned in the comments that Satori Komeiji would like it, so this theme took influence from Heartfelt Fancy from Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism. |
| Maiden of Salvation ~ Way of Rakuen | This is a remix of a song I previously did that isn’t part of any album on my Bandcamp. You can listen to the original on YouTube here. |
| Cecilian Concerto | This is just an arrangement incorporating motifs from Amidst the Musical Tempest and Shining Miracle of the Angel of Music. |
| The Thunderbolt that Ignites Our Souls ~ Thank You Remiel | This is an arrangement of Paradisiacal Primordial Light of Remiel ~ Heavenly Bliss, but only shortened to fit the credits. Touhou 12: Undefined Fantastic Object also did the same thing by arranging a final boss theme in the credits. |
| Player’s Score | The game over theme that’s been captivating players since the release of Touhou 10: Mountain of Faith and incorporates a leitmotif from The Venerable Ancient Battlefield ~ Suwa Foughten Field from the game. |
