Emiko Hosokawa, the director of Touhou Meijinka ~ Song of Divine Tempest, has mentioned on Wednesday that she has been diagnosed with myopia – a common condition in which objects appear clearly when close, but far away objects don’t. The condition is generally inherited and can develop at any age. Warning signs of the condition can be noted by eye squinting, which can lead to eye strain and headaches.
“My tutor suspected that I have myopia based on how close I am to the class whiteboard,” said Hosokawa in a statement. The diagnosis will likely make the second half of the game’s development tricky, and two weeks ago during the Vietnamese Independence Day weekend, she was also involved in an automobile accident involving a bus.
Treatment for myopia usually involves glasses or contact lenses. If that doesn’t work, then a patient may need surgery.
It’s also no secret that Drillimation Systems founder and CEO Susumu Takajima also has the condition too, and has been fighting it for a decade. This is also the reason he wears clampable shades on top of his regular glasses for all of his on-screen appearances.
