Touhou Meijinka Director Reportedly Got Involved in Car Crash

Emiko Hosokawa, the director of Touhou Meijinka ~ Song of Divine Tempest, reportedly got involved in a crash with a bus in Ho Chi Minh City. The incident was said to have taken place over the Vietnamese Independence Day weekend. No one was seriously harmed in the incident, but the front of the car involved in the accident was dented.

Among one of those on the scene was Studio Emiko CEO Emiko Hosokawa, who was on her way to either Independence Day celebrations or on a pilgrimage to a site. Local authorities have opened an investigation into the crash.

According to law groups, national holidays that celebrate a nation’s independence or founding, or a significant date for a patron saint or ruler are considered to be the most dangerous days for driving, as the parties that take place often involve alcohol, which can create drunk driving issues and lead to deadly consequences. One single accident can lead to a lifetime of regret, as well as hefty fines and jail time. Drunk driving convictions are considered to be very difficult to obtain pardons for and can take half a decade after the offense.

In the United States, nearly thirty people are killed in drunk driving crashes each day, and on average claims over 10,000 victims each year. Hundreds of accident lawsuits are filed every year, and juries have ordered those who were willful and/or liable to pay millions of dollars in penalties.

Drillimation Systems is also lobbying for legislation that would require all cars to have breathalyzers to reduce this problem. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 introduced by President Biden may require all new cars from the 2026 model year to include built-in breathalyzers.
