Vampires have been an awesome concept to implement in popular culture. Unlike the real thing, Violetta Scarlet, Hearthcliffe’s distant cousin, doesn’t keep alive by feeding on Susumu Takajima or Kagami Ochiai’s blood. Every living being has at least one or more weaknesses. If you take all of the vampire stories and myths from over the centuries, you can’t use the same methods to kill her or even prevent her from killing you.

• Anything that can kill a human can still kill her. That means you can ram the classic wooden stake through her heart, use any weapon made of silver, or still decapitate her.
• Fire is another way to defeat her. If you trap her in fire, she’ll dissolve to ashes.
• She’s not as vulnerable as undeveloped film, unless it’s a really hot day. If you see her go out on the beach on a sunny day, expect her skin to be tanned.
• None of the religious things will work on her:
  • Violetta ain’t afraid of crucifixes.
  • Even if you splash her with holy water that’s been blessed by a priest, nothing happens. Don’t expect her to be burned if she bathes in a river or takes a shower.
  • She can still read the Bible.
  • She can still be hurt by the Hawthorne tree because of the connection with the crown of thorns on Jesus Christ.
• If you try to put garlic around your base, you aren’t considered safe. She will bypass that defense, even if she can tolerate its smell.
• Wolfbane won’t do the trick. Even though it’s a werewolf repellent, it won’t keep Violetta away from you.
• Violetta will still cast a reflection in a mirror. Expect her to use one when she’s applying makeup or getting dressed for that big fancy event.
• If you spread rice or seeds around, she will not stop to count them.
• Violetta doesn’t sleep in her native soil. She has no grave to return to. That means she can travel far.

If you attempt to arm your base with garlic, crucifixes, and wolfbane, even if you don’t invite her, she won’t care. You would have to feel sorry for yourself. She can go out in the day but not have to drink blood, she won’t die by water and sunlight, and sleep in a regular bed.
