Backstory

The Matriarch of Horikawa.

Born as a spirit of the taiko drum owned by the couple Isao and Junko Horikawa, she was then soon adopted by the couple as their adoptive daughter.

At first, things for Raiko within the family is normal as she interacts with the other family members, but then things took a turn after her adoptive father Isao died from a stroke.

Since then, she has been the Matriarch of House Horikawa, the most powerful of all the four aristocratic families backed by the Church.

Some people complained about her Spartan policy on “reforming culture”, but to her, this is her mission in order to ensure “eternal happiness” in the world.

Noticing that the realm of Gensokyo is suffering from a lot of tremoils, she decided to put an end to it by spreading her happiness via hosting a concert just outside it and with unknown ways, decoyed the residents of Gensokyo away from the Divide in order to “integrate them into the eternal Rakuen”.
