Drillimation Liking Activity on Instagram Halted After Recent Tab Removed Again

For the first time since late 2020, Drillimation’s social media activity on Instagram has been halted as a result of Instagram removing the Recent tab on hashtag pages. This was unprecedented and unexpected and it happened a few days before a planned two-week hiatus starting Friday.

According to Mashable, Instagram is wanting to prioritize recent posts and reels all in one section. This is to make hashtags as useful for as possible for people, and for a small group of people, the company wants to present recent posts and reels in the main display section. Tests of this started in spring of last year.

This redesign is to ensure individuals can be connected to more information about social movements, including what is presented in hashtags. This will bring the most important content for all users and prevent them from encountering hazardous or misleading posts.

The Recent tab has been critical for small content creators wanting to expand, and Drillimation has been heavily relying on this. Because of this happening again, and until Instagram decides to bring back the tab, Drillimation’s posts may receive fewer likes and the follower count may fall. When this happened in November 2020 as a result of the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election taking place, Drillimation lost 20 followers.
