Shining Shattering Sky ~ Reverie of Breaking Unreality

What’s Going On in Tomohiro Uchida and Hikari Aogami’s Dreams?

When you need a break from your everyday life, take a peek into the dreams of Tomohiro Uchida and Hikari Aogami – the parents of Chuhou Joutai character Kumiko Uchida. Taking place six years before Kumiko’s birth and twenty years before the events of Chuhou Joutai: Legend of the Mysterious Real Driller, they apparently found themselves in an imaginary world. Tomohiro is studying to become a shrine priest, but his own strength isn’t enough. Hikari, a shrine maiden, has come in to help him with his training.

In order to survive in this world, you are armed with the power of the Yin-Yang Orb, which Hikari will help you channel. The orb is capable of smashing through any type of wall consisting of mesmerizing patterns, with some surprises, helpful or not, inside. When you come across a nightmare-inducing adversary, the Orb will always be highly responsive to your prayers.

Features:

  • Local multiplayer with drop-in drop-out co-op play.*

Version History

Beta Version 1.0.1

Issues fixed:

  • Fixed an issue where some text in Diverse and Whisking Holiday would not display properly in the Japanese version of the game.

Known issues:

  • YoYo Games recently updated the GameMaker API, for which the game has been updated. As such, we make no guarantee of the behavior of the game in terms of the new version.

Beta Version 1.0.0

Issues fixed:

  • Fixed an issue where the orb could get stuck on the side rails of the playing field.

Gameplay changes:

  • The net is no longer allowed to move any number of pixels outside the playing field.

Alpha Version 1.2.0

New Features:

  • Eight new backdrops for custom stages have been added.

Issues fixed:

  • Improved the physics of the Orb. Orb mooks no longer rebound in the opposite direction when hitting a wall and other blocks.
  • Fixed an issue where the Orb could be caught and thrown off the playing field, resulting in a softlock that would require the stage to be restarted to continue.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash after using a bomb on some bosses. The properties were modified so that bombs would not work on danmaku resisting items.
  • Fixed an issue when loading an incompatible stage in Free Play using a gamepad caused players to get stuck in an endless loop, softlocking the game.
  • Fixed an issue where selecting the Multiplayer option in the main menu via a mouse when a second controller was not active caused it to get stuck, causing the error sound to stutter and play indefinitely.

Known issues:

  • The orb may get trapped between two gold blocks if it manages to enter a gap that is eight pixels wide. A temporary workaround would be to use a bomb to free it. If you don’t have any bombs, you may have to restart the stage. We are currently searching for a workaround to this problem.

Alpha Version 1.1.0

New features:

  • Seven new backdrops for custom stages have been added.

In-game changes:

  • The hitbox for the player has been made smaller, making boss fights slightly easier.
  • Amulets can now smash through 2-3 bullets when powered up.
  • Powerups can now be collected with the net.
  • Bombs now remove all bullets.

Issues fixed:

  • Blockebakes can now transform again.
  • Reduced the likelihood of enemies clinging together when they spawn.
  • The quarantine flags from the dylib files for the FMOD dependency have been removed and the game now runs on macOS without those annoying security warnings.

Known issues:

  • Due to the way the GameMaker engine handles cursors, players on macOS may see their cursor on top of the in-game cursor. Additionally, unwanted tooltips may display on top of the cursor when hovering over certain items in-game. We hope to search for a workaround for this problem.

Alpha Version 1.0.1

Balanced the Blockebake enemy so they can change direction at regular intervals. We also fixed an issue where a Blockebake could morph into a block inside a wall, causing a softlock that would prevent the stage from being completed and requiring a bomb to pass through. If the player had no bombs, they would have to quit and reload the stage.

Alpha Version 1.0.0

Initial release.
